Brew coffee, calculate on a calculator, and flip book pages with a humanoid robot. Test your mechanics, electronics, and programming skills through practical tasks.
Practical tasks with a humanoid robot: coffee making, calculator operation, and page flipping
This category includes advanced practical tasks requiring robot actions close to human activity. Robots must handle table objects carefully, avoid damage, and complete tasks within the defined time.
The competition can be performed in manual (operator-controlled) or autonomous (sensor/camera/algorithm) mode. Additional points are awarded for autonomous button recognition and execution.
Prepare 1 cup of coffee using table objects and place it in the designated area
Enter the expression (12×8+34÷2) and display the result
Flip pages and return the book to its place
Add powder, sugar, and water, mix, and place the cup correctly
Enter 12×8+34÷2 and display the correct result on screen
Flip at least 1 page without tearing and return the book
The robot must include the following mandatory components
Sensors, camera, or vision system may be installed
Main electronics, control board, and battery housing
Working arms for object gripping, spoon mixing, and button pressing
Must stand stably and move legs alternately
The robot works with objects on the table: brews coffee, calculates, and flips book pages
Add powder, sugar, and water, stir at least 3 times, and place the cup at FINISH
Enter 12×8+34÷2, press "="; the answer must be clearly visible
Flip at least 1 page without tearing and return the book
Time starts at "START"; results after time expires are not counted
The robot can be operated in manual or autonomous mode
Remote operation via controller, joystick, keyboard, or app
After start, the robot completes tasks without human intervention
Total score: 100 + bonus (max +10)
Coffee: 20 | Calculator: 10 | Book: 10
Arm precision, object grip quality, and drop prevention
Similarity to human motion and realistic use of arms/legs
Gripper design, sensors, algorithms, and balance
Task completion within time and rule compliance
For autonomous execution, innovation, and judges’ discretion
Minor spill — minor penalty, major spill — major penalty
Penalty for each incorrect key on calculator. Wrong answer = task not completed
Torn or heavily bent page — major penalty
Dropping, breaking, or damaging objects — penalty points
Intentional object damage, ignoring judge instructions, safety violations, or replacing robot during task
Sharp, cutting, flammable, spark-producing, or harmful parts are prohibited
All robots are inspected before the competition.
Starts on "START" command and must be completed within 2-4 minutes.
Safety rules are strictly enforced throughout the competition.
Judges evaluate by 5 criteria plus bonus points.
