Humanoid Robots Competition

Practical tasks with a humanoid robot: coffee making, calculator operation, and page flipping

About the competition

This category includes advanced practical tasks requiring robot actions close to human activity. Robots must handle table objects carefully, avoid damage, and complete tasks within the defined time.

The competition can be performed in manual (operator-controlled) or autonomous (sensor/camera/algorithm) mode. Additional points are awarded for autonomous button recognition and execution.

01

Coffee brewing

Prepare 1 cup of coffee using table objects and place it in the designated area

02

Calculator operation

Enter the expression (12×8+34÷2) and display the result

03

Book page flipping

Flip pages and return the book to its place

Competition Details

  • Competition Humanoid Robots
  • Direction Robotics engineering
  • Participation Format Team-based
  • Robot type Humanoid (head, torso, 2 arms, 2 legs)
  • Height 30-100 cm
  • Weight Up to 20 kg
  • Time 2-4 minutes
  • Control Manual / Autonomous
  • E-Stop Emergency stop button is mandatory

Coffee brewing — 20 points

Add powder, sugar, and water, mix, and place the cup correctly

Calculator — 10 points

Enter 12×8+34÷2 and display the correct result on screen

Book handling — 10 points

Flip at least 1 page without tearing and return the book

Humanoid Robot Structure

The robot must include the following mandatory components

Head

Sensors, camera, or vision system may be installed

Body

Main electronics, control board, and battery housing

×2

Two arms

Working arms for object gripping, spoon mixing, and button pressing

STABLE STANCE

Two legs

Must stand stably and move legs alternately

Important note: Devices without a humanoid form are not accepted. Fully independent two-leg walking is not mandatory; support or hidden wheels are allowed. Emergency stop (E-Stop) is mandatory.

Task Sequence

The robot works with objects on the table: brews coffee, calculates, and flips book pages

Final Rules

1
Preparation

Technical inspection

All robots are inspected before the competition.

  • Humanoid form is checked (head, body, 2 arms, 2 legs)
  • Robot safety and E-Stop are checked
  • Control mode (manual/autonomous) is declared
  • Height (30-100 cm) and weight (up to 20 kg) are checked
2
Task execution

3 tasks in sequence

Starts on "START" command and must be completed within 2-4 minutes.

  • Task 1: Coffee brewing — add powder, sugar, water, and mix
  • Task 2: Calculator — enter 12×8+34÷2 and show result
  • Task 3: Book — flip at least 1 page and return book
  • Robot must stop immediately when judge says "STOP"
3
Safety

Safety rules

Safety rules are strictly enforced throughout the competition.

  • Operator stands only at safe distance
  • If liquid spills, continuing is prohibited until area is dry
  • Electrical wiring and battery must be safely insulated
4
Evaluation

Result determination

Judges evaluate by 5 criteria plus bonus points.

  • Base score: up to 100
  • Bonus: +10 (max)
  • Judges’ decision is final
Total score: 100 + bonus (max +10). Regulations may be updated on competition day.
