Maximum load-bearing challenge for bridge models made from ice cream sticks.
A maximum load-bearing challenge based on bridge construction from ice cream sticks.
The objective of this competition is to prepare specialists who can apply theoretical knowledge in practice, think independently, and make sound decisions in non-standard situations. Participants analyze the load-bearing framework of artificial structures (bridges), create models in real time, and demonstrate creative and technical competence.
Develop professionals capable of applying theoretical knowledge in practice
Promote in-depth understanding of structural strength theory
Increase youth engagement in construction engineering and foster creative thinking
Develop specialists who think independently and decide effectively in non-standard situations
Build the bridge model within the allotted time using provided materials
Design a bridge with a clear structural solution, including frame and bracing elements
Determine maximum load-bearing capacity through sequential loading
Dimensional and structural requirements for the bridge model
Core rules to be followed when building the bridge model
The model must be fully built using components provided by the organizers.
Bridge dimensions must be 60 cm length, 9 cm width, and not less than 15 cm in height.
The design must include both frame and bracing elements.
The artificial structure must present a clear structural solution relevant to the theme.
The design should not significantly deviate from the recommended dimensions and structural system.
Construction time must not exceed the limit set by the organizers.
List of materials provided by the organizers
Standard size: 11.4 x 9.6 x 2 mm
Standard size, with 10 glue sticks
Standard-size scalpel
1 metal ruler
The competition consists of two zones
Allocated area for building the bridge model. At least 4 sq.m per participant.
Area for testing the bridge load-bearing capacity through sequential identical loads.
The participant model is evaluated by applying identical loads sequentially at the designated point.
A 100-point system across 4 criteria for determining winners
