Urban Challenge is an applied platform focused on redesigning local territories based on modern urban planning approaches.
Participating teams develop a comprehensive development concept by integrating socio-economic conditions, infrastructure capacity, and environmental factors of the selected area.
Conduct an in-depth analysis of the current condition and development potential of red-category neighborhoods
Develop a master plan as an integrated urban planning solution
Create an innovative project collaboratively in a team of 2-3 students
Apply green infrastructure and environmentally sustainable urban planning solutions
Each team must complete 6 core tasks
Analyze the current state of the area using demographic, social, and economic indicators
Identify development opportunities and strategically assess strengths and weaknesses
Formulate a development strategy based on short-, medium-, and long-term goals
Develop investment and infrastructure projects with financial justification and economic efficiency
Prepare an integrated master plan with a main drawing in A1 format and urban planning solutions
Prepare 3 lot passports as detailed technical documents for each site
Information provided to teams and required deliverables
The competition is conducted in two stages
Teams prepare the area master plan, explanatory note, and required graphic materials within the allotted time.
Teams present their projects before the jury and answer questions.
Assessment is based on 5 criteria within a 100-point system
Quality of integrated urban solutions, territorial planning, and architectural design
Design quality of roads, water, electricity, and other engineering networks
Integration of resident survey results and demographic analysis into the project
Compliance with green infrastructure principles, environmental standards, and ShNQ requirements
Project presentation skills, quality of visual materials, and responses during Q&A
Cash prizes and cups for winners
All participants are awarded a festival certificate
